Consumer borrowing unexpectedly surges in March which I find worrying. I am not worried about the magnitude but the concern that more consumers are turning to credit card loans which are easier to take than much cheaper bank loans. Such loans need to be repay with steep interest and only provide temporary relief. Much more worried on this segment as there is a potential of a credit card bubble which will devastate the already weaken banks which are reeling from the sub prime crisis.
