Those shares traded on the stock market are Google A shares which is a different type of shares from what the founder and top executives of Google are holding. They are holding Google B shares which is a different Class altogether. Google A shares is entitled to 1 share 1 vote. Google B shares is entitled to 1 share 10 votes.
This extremely disproportional voting rights ensure that powers stay at the top despite the number of shares ordinary share holders may hold. Therefore I for one is not interested in this share. Voting powers are weak meaning those who attempt to take over Google is nearly impossible. Also power is concentrated at the top, normal share holders will find it difficult to overwrite the 1:10 advantage the top management had.
